Our Foundation was created to provide people with a wider choice of online tools and spaces where they won't be tracked and can express themselves freely. Not everything has to be commercial, focused on maximum profit. Human activity also manifests itself in caring for communities and pursuing passions and interests. We ourselves needed infrastructure, the exchange of experiences, and the synergistic effects of collaboration, which are always superior to those of our competitors.

Our foundation recently expanded from two to four permanent staff members. We also collaborate with numerous volunteers in our work teams and special interest groups, as well as with organizations, cooperatives, foundations, and trade unions.

The Foundation's mission is to provide services and manage projects for everyone—individuals and informal teams using free software, as well as associations, organizations, trade unions, and NGOs—regardless of size. We care equally for small, medium, and large businesses. We operate on our own infrastructure, based on proven open source solutions and the knowledge and experience of our teams and volunteers.

List of publicly available services provided by FTdL

NCH.pl – Nasza Chmura (Our Cloud) is a service based on the Nextcloud platform . We offer the largest free disk quota in Europe, 15GB. We enable the creation of a group for collaboration among multiple people working on projects. Simply send an email to pomoc@ftdl.pl. We also offer the option to increase the quota for individuals running social projects, organizations, and NGOs. You can also increase the quota to 50GB individually by donating 50 PLN to our Foundation (contact us via email after payment). The quota will be available indefinitely, meaning for the duration of the Nasza Chmura project. We also provide organizations and projects with dedicated Nextcloud instances, based on Netcloud AIO, within their own domain. Please contact us.

Pol.social – An open, Polish-language instance of Mastodon , operating since November 1, 2021. We work in accordance with the Mastodon Server Agreement , so you can find us on the JoinMastodon website . The server always runs on the latest vanilla version of Mastodon. It supports post search (Elasticsearch), post translation via DeepL, and is moderated by our team. Thanks to moderation by live people, not algorithms, Pol.social maintains an inclusive atmosphere of friendly discussion and exchange of ideas. We maintain good etiquette. This is the best home in the Fediverse for content creators, organizations, activists, foundations, and government agencies.

Chat.Pol.social – A Matrix network instance exclusively for Pol.social users. If you're looking for a publicly available Polish Matrix server, we recommend Noevil.pl, run by Didka on our Foundation's infrastructure.

Tube.Pol.social – A Peertube instance for Pol.social users. A video streaming server similar to Vimeo or YouTube. It enables live broadcasts with excellent XMPP-based chat, multiple channels per profile (YouTube only has one!), and operates within the Fediverse network, allowing users to share and comment on videos. It also offers RSS feeds (including podcast formats) for subscribers outside the Fediverse.

Bin.Pol.social – A Kbin instance available to everyone. It aggregates links similarly to Reddit, supports Markdown-formatted articles, and divides content into Magazines (like custom categories or blogs). It allows you to write tooters, like on Mastodon or Twitter. It's great for threading discussions under Kbin Links and Articles, like a discussion forum. It works within the Fediverse and beyond, like a regular website.

Polesie.Pol.social – A Kbin instance dedicated to people from Polesie. Anyone or organization interested in running their own geographic Kbin instance for local communities is welcome to contact us.

Mobilizon.pl – The oldest Polish instance of Mobilizon, an alternative to Facebook, providing information about events in the Fediverse and beyond. We co-host it on our own infrastructure and are also working on implementing an event importer for other services. It will soon replace our own Mobilizon server, AkcjaReakcja.pl.

Pixel.Pol.social – The equivalent of Instagram on the web and in the Fediverse. A Pixelfed instance is being implemented and is already operational for users of Pol.social. The first Polish Pixelfed server (as we know of) is supported and moderated by our Foundation's teams. Once fully operational, we will also launch a publicly available Pixelfed instance, Pol.pics.

Services for projects and organizations

We have extensive experience in professional software implementation, maintenance, administration and moderation, as well as in managing projects and implementations.

If you want to create a website, or your organization needs a better tool for community management and group collaboration, simply contact us .

For newly launched projects without a budget to purchase services on the commercial market, we are able to provide infrastructure and support for our teams through a reciprocal financing model. You reciprocate the value received from the Foundation whenever and however you can. This model allows for the removal of financial barriers from new projects, an easier launch, and the maintenance and development of our Foundation's resources, including remuneration for the work of collaborators and rewarding volunteer teams.

We offer:

• Hosting , including WordPress, Ghost and other popular web frameworks.

• VPS based on ProxMox, no resource overbooking, backup once a day.

• Domain-wide email powered by Mailcow, newsletters and mailing lists from Keila Open Source.

• Custom server instances in Fediverse : Mastodon, Pleoma/Akkoma, Kbin/Mbin, PeerTube, Mobilizon, Pixelfed and others.

• Own server instances of Nextcloud (AIO), Matrix/Element, Mattermost, Loomio, soon Maptio.

• S3 hosting for large amounts of data, multimedia and more, based on MinIO.

• Organizational and implementation support, systems maintenance, moderation.

• Training in the implementation and use of Open Source software.

• Training in managing and organizing cooperation, including implementing the principles of sociocracy and nonviolent communication (NVC) in organizations.

We host all our services in our own server room in Krakow (KRK-DC), with full control over the network, hardware, and data. KRK-DC :: Krakow Data Center

We've created our own mini-data center, powered primarily by photovoltaic panels located on the roof of our headquarters.
Thanks to our own hardware resources powered by affordable energy, we can implement numerous projects, offering both free and low-cost services, while also caring for the environment.
A high-speed fiber optic connection and full IPv4 addressing complete the server room's equipment.
We're working on additional interconnects and implementing BGP.

The current installed capacity of the panels is 5,625 kWp.

Considered the best-moderated large instance in the Polish Fediverse, thanks to our close-knit multi-person moderation team. Our technical department ensures that our Mastodon runs on the latest software, efficiently, and without the unnecessary delays that other instances experience. Tube.pol.social

Polish-language PeerTube instance launched in summer 2023. Currently the largest Polish instance according to Join PeerTube statistics .

NCH.pl

Our cloud is a Nextcloud server offering 15GB of free file and data storage for each person. It's possible to create a Nextcloud Group to better support group work and document sharing.
